Saint Anselm College
Location: Manchester, NH
Mascot: Hawk
MSP User Since: 2024
Volunteers Scheduled: 50+ Lectors, Greeters, Altar Servers, EMs, and Student Wedding Assistants*
On this close-knit campus founded by the Order of Saint Benedict in 1889, community service is central to Saint Anselm College, and Campus Ministry is no exception. But scheduling volunteers was once a cumbersome process, managed manually through endless spreadsheets and emails.
That changed when Fr. Francis McCarty, discovered Ministry Scheduler Pro. While visiting a friend's parish, he noticed them using MSP in the Sacristy. Curious, he asked, "What's that?" His friend's response was simple: "This is MSP, and it's coming with me to every parish I go to!" After seeing MSP in action, Fr. Francis knew it was the solution Saint Anselm College needed. He started a free trial over the summer, and a smooth setup ensured students started the new school year with ministry profiles and automated schedules. Now, managing involvement is easier than ever!
"MSP has saved me at least 2-4 hours per week because I am no longer flooded with emails from folks looking for coverage, and I no longer have to respond to those emails or find coverage for them."
– Fr. Francis McCarty, OSB, Assistant Director, Campus Ministry
*Here's a fun fact: Saint Anselm College hosts more Catholic weddings per year than any other venue in the state of New Hampshire! Each celebration requires a Student Wedding Assistant, and students can easily sign up for this ministry through MSP. We're thrilled to help them share the love!
Ss. Philip & James Catholic Church & University Parish
Location: Baltimore, MD
Campus Served: Johns Hopkins University
MSP User Since: 2008
Volunteers Scheduled: 70+ Lectors, Acolytes, and Sacristans
Ss. Philip and James, a university parish serving the Catholic Community at Johns Hopkins, brings together undergrads, graduate students, and local families in shared liturgies and programs. Led by Dominican Friars, the parish has grown rapidly in recent years, with MSP playing a key role in keeping everyone organized. Fr. Dominic Koester, O.P. highlights MSP's sub requests and auto-reminders as game-changers, allowing students to easily swap positions and receive timely reminders to ensure all liturgical ministry roles are filled.
How does MSP ensure all positions are filled before Sunday? On Tuesdays, an automated email from MSP goes out to liturgical ministers at Ss. Philip and James with links to unfilled upcoming positions. Then, two days before Mass, each volunteer receives a personalized auto-reminder email for their assignments. Finally, 24 hours before Mass, they get text message reminders, which are clutch for all volunteers! MSP does this work automatically behind the scenes, so staff don't have to lift a finger.

Fr. Jonathan Raia, the UCC's Director and Chaplain—and a UT-Austin alum—shared how his own involvement at the UCC was pivotal to his calling to the priesthood. Reflecting on their mission, Fr. Jonathan explained, "The UCC seeks to help UT students encounter Jesus, the Truth Who sets us free, and find a home in His Church, through helping students encounter Truth, Beauty, and Goodness—and key to encountering God through Beauty is the experience of the liturgy."
As one of the first Newman Centers to adopt Ministry Scheduler Pro, the UCC has been a pioneer in streamlining volunteer coordination and continues to rely on MSP to support its vibrant, engaged community.
Their favorite MSP feature? "My favorite part of MSP is the Announcements feature that lets me easily send announcements to all the ministers at once, or a subset of ministers if I need. It makes it easy to reach everyone and communicate what I need to." – Zachary Courreges, Liturgy Intern
